TENS Information |
About (T)elephone (E)mergency (N)otification (S)ystem, TENS The TENNESSEE HOMELAND SECURITY DISTRICT 7 has implemented a Telephone Emergency Notification System (TENS). The TENS system allows the 911 Center of each county in District 7 to rapidly notify residences and businesses by telephone. In the event of an emergency, an operator in the 911 Center can identify the affected neighborhood or region of the County and record a message that describes the situation and recommends the protective actions residents should take. TENS will automatically call out to all listed telephone numbers within that geographic area and deliver the recorded message. If phone lines are busy, TENS will attempt to redial those numbers a predetermined number of times to make contact. If an answering machine picks up the call, the emergency message will be left on the machine. Should you receive a TENS call, please listen to the entire message before hanging up. TENS data is derived from all listed residential and business telephone numbers throughout the Region. Unlisted, cellular, blocked, and VoIP numbers are not in the calling database. If you do not have publicly listed numbers and wish to be added to the TENS database, PLEASE CLICK ON YOUR COUNTY BELOW.
