Founded in 1998, the goal of the Austin Peay State University GIS Center was to establish and operate a non-profit Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) offering high tech digital data solutions at low cost in our region.
Since then, the GIS center provides high quality and understandable operational GIS experiences, geospatial literacy that benefits the world and Geographic Information System Products/Services to local government. Services span the City of Clarksville and surrounding counties, supporting research contracts within the University environment.

Currently, the APSU GIS Center is working on projects in seven counties. These counties include Montgomery, Cheatham, Robertson, Houston, Dickson, Humphreys, and Stewart. Our personnel include PhD level professors in geosciences, biology, computer science, and business, professional staff and experienced student workers.
Our biggest priorities are getting the right product to the right customer at the right time while embracing excellence, organizational learning, cross-training of employees, customer satisfaction, and the education of customers, students, faculty, and staff.
The GIS Center accomplishes this mission through data management, stand-alone and web-based application development, spin-off contract implementation, and the provision of professional consulting services.
